But yeah, 'Arumei' seems to be the biggest Alphonse pairing fanbase / the generally accepted OTP at this point [at least for Al!].
How there are so many OTP's is beyond reasoning, but...

That arose from 'Why does Olivier hate Mustang so much?' The eventual conclusion was that it was a childhood incident. Mustang was the man responsible for the death of Fuhrer Sparkles, the teddy bear. (Thus nearly everyone has replaced their rank with something along the lines of 'Long Live Fuhrer Sparkles'.)
